MARKET INTELLIGENCE SPECIALIST

Overview
The company is an exclusive telecommunications provider in Qatar and is one of the largest public companies in the country with about 1,900 employees. The company's strategic priority is to create value in its superior customer service, new products and services demanded by the rapidly growing and modernizing Qatari economy.
The company provides range of telecommunications products including national, international, mobile GSM, Internet and Cable television services.
As the result of continuing organisational growth and extended service, the company now seeks a Market Intelligence Specialist for their Group Strategy division.

Purpose:
This role is responsible for the corporate knowledge management and business intelligence function

Overview:
This role is responsible for business intelligence and corporate knowledge management within the company. This includes:
• Centralizing industry news reporting
• Managing all subscriptions to market research & analysis groups (e.g. Gartner, Arab Advisors, IDC etc.)
• Maintaining a centralized information/ knowledge portal.
• Conducting market research (n.b this is at a corporate level and is not a substitute for specific marketing & product research done by BU"s).
• Conducting industry benchmarking.
• Tracking key market metrics.
• Conducting specific research to support strategic planning and/or BU requests.
• Support production of dashboards & KPI reporting
• Collect & archive internal reports & knowledge
This role is broad in scope and function although is originally designed as a small function of 1.5 - 2 people. This has the potential to develop to 7 - 10 people plus but is dependent on the level of analysis and information required by the rest of the company to conduct business.

Cost & Profitability
Responsible for the complete business intelligence budget (around OR 3 – 5 million QAR per year)

Customers
Customers are internal Company management. Main customers will be strategy & M&A divisions of the company. Group Finance and BU finance will also be key users of this service. Marketing and product development managers will also frequently interact with the service.

Business Orientation
Must have a clear understanding of the telecoms business environment and be at the forefront of tracking and monitoring trends and developments. Will often be the one that people turn to receive information on market developments.

Planning & Organizing
Responsible for planning departments work and organizing the knowledge management schedule and reporting. Involves coordinating a small team of individuals in the company and a larger number of external suppliers.

Communicating, Negotiating & Influencing
Responsible for communicating market developments and business intelligence to the company's staff. This can involve complex information that needs to be translated into a digestible format.

Preferred Background
Essential Experience & Knowledge
• Experience of broad telecoms environment Critical. Should have had exposure to a number of areas rather than just one narrow field. (e.g. may have worked in finance, strategy, consulting etc.)
• Research I analysis experience critical. Should have experience in developing targeted research reports and information feeds, either as a business development, finance or planning individual or as a consultant. Ideal candidate would have run a telecoms research department.
Knowledge of the Middle Eastern telecoms environment is helpful, though not mandatory.

• A university degree from a respected institution. An M.B.A., M.S., or Ph.D. in a business-related discipline is a bonus but not necessary.
5 plus years business experience or equivalent is preferred of which a minimum of 3 years is in the telecoms environment

Nokia-Siemens Networks Combi - SGSN Design Engineer

• Must have strong IP skills - Experience within Nokia-Siemens Packet Switching Environment and products is preferred as is previous Network design experience.
• Expected is a working knowledge of Nokia SGSN and GGSN or SGSN and Flexi Server. Also required is a good working knowledge of TCP/IP. Exposure to Cisco routers and switches, internetworking as well as comprehensive knowledge of SS7, and SIGTRAN would be advantageous.
• Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of end to end packet core services, including Mobility management and Session management.
• Also sort is experience of software delivery, configuration management changes, and fault management in an operational environment.
• Must have previous experience working in a 3G Environment. This should preferably involve planning and executing tasks. Must also be able to analyse problems and recommend solutions, create and maintain records, liaise with other departments. A flexible approach to problems and their resolution is required.
• Main responsibilities will include: Network Design – Combi SGSN, Detailing Network physical connections; Transfer of core competence including handover to Operations and business as usual functions;Providing feedback to Detailed Designs regarding capacity, dimensioning, and parameter changes.
• Solid experience with Nokia-Siemens PS Equipment - preferably in an Operational, Data Management, or Design Role is required.
